Anxiety and massage

One of the reasons I decided to become a small animal massage therapist was my sweet little anxious dog Roxy.  She is almost debilitated with fear and anxiety at times. Massage stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system as well as stimulates the release of endorphins. Massage also decreases blood pressure and helps eliminate metabolic waste all while relieving restlessness and sleep disturbances. It has been exciting for me not only to witness the differences in Roxy after receiving massage but also to read documentation of these effects. Here is a good article about how massage can benefit anxious pets.
